Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that the Sumitomo Electric Group has become certified by the international initiative Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*1 for the compliance of the Group鈥檚 greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, which it is aiming to achieve by 2030, with the initiative鈥檚 standards. The Sumitomo Electric Group sees that its most significant management challenges include environmental conservation efforts to be made from a global perspective. Based on its Environmental Policy锛婏紦, the Group is promoting the Action ECO-22V Campaign锛婏紨 and making other efforts to conserve the environment through its products and services. With this background, the Company has become certified by SBTi for the following GHG emission reduction targets, which the entire Group has set as parts of its efforts regarding environment conservation.

disclose the information.

Taking its certification by SBTi and support to the TCFD recommendations
as a good opportunity, the Sumitomo Electric Group is determined to further
promote business operations that will contribute to solving global
environmental problems锛婏紪 while proceeding with climate-related disclosures.
